dieting and fiber

Are you trying to lose weight? Or maybe you are just trying to eat healthy? If you are, you need to be sure to eat lots of grain and cereals as part of a healthy diet which can help you shed the pounds.  Many people in this country don’t get an adequate amount of fiber in their diet, which will frustrate their weight loss goals.
So if you want to get more fiber into your diet what should you eat?  Fiber is found mostly in vegetables and grains, as well as fruits. If you eat enough fiber, it will help the intestines function in a proper manner in addition to relieving the symptoms of constipation, hemorrhoids, and other common illnesses.  As well, eating adequate amounts of fiber will lower your risk for heart disease and also lower the risk that you will contract some forms of cancer.

Because there are also two different types of fibers, it is necessary to eat a wide variety of foods every day in order so that you can maintain proper health.
Insoluble fiber is commonly known as roughage, and much of this cannot be absorbed by the human body, as people cannot break down cellulose.  Insoluble fiber is mostly useful for making sure the your intestinal tract stays clean.

Soluble fiber is found in barley, brown rice, beans, vegetables, and fruits and it slows down the rate at which people absorb glucose, which will help moderate blood sugar levels especially in those with diabetes.
You can get both soluble and insoluble fiber from fruits and vegetables, as they contain both and eating a few pieces of fruit in combination with a cup of oatmeal will easily meet your daily needs.
To receive an adequate amount of fiber on a daily basis is not difficult, and you should be eating tons of grains in order to fulfil basic dietary requirements such as those found in the food pyramid.  You may also want to take a fiber supplement such as Metamucil if you are having a hard time meeting your daily recommended value.
Fiber is also great for weight loss because a lot of it is insoluble and it will keep you full, meaning less food will be digested by the body.  In conclusion, if you’re trying to lose weight and you want to stay in shape you certainly can’t go wrong by eating plenty of fiber rich foods on a daily basis.
